Mozi Dating App
A playful, inclusive matchmaking app for pet lovers—dual profiles for humans and pets, safe messaging, a social feed, and local events in one mobile hub
Discovery phase
The opportunity centered on a niche that mainstream dating apps overlook: meaningful connections among pet owners. The product goal was to combine swipe-based matchmaking with pet-centric context—profiles, preferences, and lifestyle signals—so matches form around real compatibility between people and their animals.
Key requirements emerged early: dual profiles (human + pet), inclusive preference settings across genders, identities, breeds, and species; in-app messaging with reporting and safety controls; a lightweight social feed for everyday moments; and Mozi Parks, an events area for meetups. The experience needed to feel welcoming and fun while maintaining the rigor of trusted platforms, optimized for both iOS and Android.
Ideation Development
Information architecture organized the app into five pillars: Matchmaking (swipe, likes, power-ups by plan), Profiles (separate human/pet tabs with photos, bios, preferences), Messages (chat, block/report, safety prompts), Feed (pet-centric status posts), and Mozi Parks (map/list of pet-friendly events). Core flows prioritized one-hand navigation, glanceable cards, and fast completion of frequent actions (like, super-like, message, post).
Interaction patterns focused on inclusion and safety-by-design: explicit privacy controls, content filters, age/identity gates where appropriate, and friction-light reporting pathways. Subscription tiers unlocked power-ups and visibility boosts without compromising fairness. Platform components were designed to scale across iOS and Android with native patterns where it matters most (sheet modals, gestures, haptics).
UI/UX
Visual Identity

Visual Exploration
The visual direction blends playful warmth with clear hierarchy. A rounded wordmark and soft geometry echo friendliness; vibrant accents highlight actions, while neutral surfaces keep content front and center. Type scales and spacing support small-screen readability; iconography emphasizes species/breed cues and interaction states.
The symbol combines a heart-adjacent silhouette and dynamic motion cues to suggest connection and energy without leaning on clichés. Micro-interactions—card toss, paw-tap haptics, subtle confetti on matches—reinforce delight, while error/empty states remain empathetic and instructional to keep momentum.
Brand Application
Brand voice is light, respectful, and unmistakably pet-forward: affectionate without infantilizing, inclusive without jargon. CTAs and microcopy encourage kind behavior (“Say hi—mention the pet’s favorite game”), while safety content is direct and visible. Visual tokens (color, type, radius, elevation) ensure consistency across Matchmaking, Messages, Feed, and Mozi Parks.
Within the product, the dual-profile paradigm is reinforced via tabs and chips that clearly separate human and pet information, reducing ambiguity during swipes and chats. Event cards in Mozi Parks use location and time badges for quick scanning; the feed uses media-first templates for pet photos and short captions. The result is a coherent brand system that supports playful discovery, safer interactions, and real-world community touchpoints.
